Everyone wants custom these days, to give off some level of uniqueness or to 'fit just right.' The longer my journey is with Christ, the longer I realize it is made just for me. There is pretty much nothing in life that is like that. Yea, I know that is really obvious. Through ALL my experiences, both good and bad, God's plan for my life remains the same. How is that even possible? When a puzzle piece is connecting with another piece, it is only possible because they fit together. No matter how much my end of the piece changes, God makes it fit. No matter how much sin, suffering, pain and mistakes I go through, he continues to 'fit' with me. That is a constant customize and it is sooo good.
Today we met with 12 of our girls who have graduated from our safe house program. They all live in our Freedom Center where they are trained on computer skills, sewing, cooking, hair styling, makeup, and other skills. They live upstairs and downstairs they run a full salon and spa, tailoring and sewing shop, and screen printing business. I got a pedicure with sugar scrub, shampoo, and haircut for $9.
Our girls can make plaid shirts! I chose my pattern from local fabrics they have purchased and then I got measured. Now, I usually don't purchase many clothes but when I do, they usually run too large. First world problem right? I received my shirt from Soriya who carefully made the shirt. Needless to say, the end result was a perfectly fitting shirt. It was so nice.
Soriya is a victim of human trafficking and exploitation in. I am reminded that God first saved her from her brutal situation and brought her into a place where he could do work in her life. I believe God has used our Freedom Center and loving staff to make a fully custom place for her. It is a place for her to rest, to be in fellowship, to be in community, to have all necessities, Biblical teachings, counseling, and opportunities. After she graduates from this program, the staff will begin a thorough reintegration process, loans for a startup business or school and staff follow-ups. Despite her situation and how she felt about her life's worth, God turned it around and has shown her a glimpse of who he is. He is really setting her up for a deep, life long journey with him.
God is making his point to fit with us He is ready to connect no matter the current shape. Experiencing a part of Soriya's life has made that very clear for me. Please continue to pray for our girls and hardworking staff in this wonderful program. Ask God for his continued abundant provisions and to watch over all the girls who have reintegrated into the communities. Ask God if it is HIS will, to guide us strategically on expansion and growth of our businesses and programs. I would love to get more girls into these places of rest, safety. and redemption.
